About JCAST:
The Jersey City Art and Studio Tour (JCAST) was developed from an event rooted in artists’ studios, retailers and other downtown spaces, including the historic 111 First Street art collective, into the City’s premier cultural event. For nearly three decades, the tour has attracted thousands of art aficionados from New York, New Jersey and beyond to tour hundreds of art and performance spaces.

JCAST was started in 1990 by Charles Kessler and Pat Donnelly of Gold Coast Magazine (a Jersey Journal weekly) and continued by Al Preciado and Margaret Schmidt, the event has garnered increased investment by the City over the years, reflecting the importance of Jersey City as a center for the arts in the state.

From 1994 to 2013, JCAST was co-sponsored by Pro Arts, the Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs and corporate sponsors. Pro Arts is a non-profit organization that promotes the visual arts and the “advancement of the rights, welfare and economic well-being of professional artists.” The event is currently presented by the City of Jersey City, the Municipal Council and the Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs with participating partners.
