Registration is now open for the School of Nimbus Dance’s Fall 2026 semester. With campuses in downtown Jersey City and Summit, the School offers rigorous, joyful professional dance training for children, teens, and adults, along with opportunities to learn from Nimbus Dance company members and perform alongside professional artists.
Both campuses will host free Open Houses on Saturday, August 29. Prospective students and families can participate in sample classes, meet faculty, tour the studios, and explore class and performance opportunities before the fall semester begins September 14.
Jersey City: New Boys Dance Technique Class and Youth Ensemble Auditions
This fall, the School of Nimbus Dance introduces
Boys Dance Technique, a new class taught by Nimbus
company dancer and former gold-medal gymnast Henry Steele Dillon.
Designed to give boys a dedicated entry point into dance training,
the class incorporates jumps, turns, rolls, leaps, and other dynamic movement.
“I think of dance as an incredible combination of athletics, artmaking,
teamwork, and theatrical performance,” said Nimbus Founder and Artistic
Director Samuel Pott. “It’s a place where boys can grow and thrive—so
we’re excited to offer this new program where boys can challenge
themselves, build confidence together, and discover that dance requires
every bit as much strength, coordination, and commitment as any other
sport. Henry understands that journey firsthand. He came to dance through competitive gymnastics, and he combines disciplined training, teamwork, and a lot of fun in this new program.”
Alongside the new class, the Jersey City campus is expanding its fall offerings with new class times and additional instruction in modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and tap. Adult students can explore ballet through a new Absolute Beginner Ballet class or find their rhythm in NimbusFIT’s six-week Tap Intensive.
Need- and merit-based scholarships help ensure that professional dance training remains accessible regardless of financial background. Last year, Nimbus awarded more than $45,000 in scholarships to Jersey City youth to take classes year-round at the Nimbus Arts Center.
“Kids need real physical challenge, and they need it taught well, especially in a time where screens have become default,” said School Co-Director Marie Zvosec. “Our faculty are trained to see exactly where a student is and push them one step further, safely and correctly. Every season, I watch students go from hesitating to run across the room to asking for one more chance to leap before class ends. Those moments remind us how meaningful dance can be—not only for students’ physical development, but for their confidence, creativity, and sense of belonging. That kind of growth doesn’t happen by accident; it comes from faculty who train at a professional level and hold students to that same standard.”
Youth Performance Ensemble Auditions
Youth Performance Ensemble auditions will also take place during the Jersey City Open House on August 29. Designed for students seeking more intensive training, the ensembles provide advanced coaching, performance opportunities throughout the season, and the chance to work closely with Nimbus Dance artists.
This fall, Jersey City Youth Ensemble students will perform alongside Nimbus Dance in professional productions this October before returning to the stage in Jersey Nutcracker this December.
Recent School of Nimbus graduates have continued their dance education at highly competitive college programs, including Sarah Lawrence College and the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program.

Summit: World-Class Faculty and Professional Performance Opportunities
Under the leadership of former American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancer and Black Swan body double Sarah Lane, the School of Nimbus Dance in Summit offers students the rare opportunity to train alongside working professional artists.
Students take classes in the same studios where Nimbus Dance rehearses, and company dancers regularly teach throughout the year, creating meaningful connections between aspiring dancers and professional performers.
This fall, students can choose from classes in ballet, modern, jazz, character dance, and more. New offerings include Dance with Me for children ages 2–3 and their caregivers, along with expanded NimbusFIT ballet classes for teens and adults. Students seeking additional performance experience may also seek placement in the School’s Performance Ensembles.
“Our goal is to provide students of all ages with exceptional instruction, inspiring performance opportunities, and an environment where they can grow both as dancers and as people,” said School Co-Director Sarah Lane. “As a professional ballerina, I know firsthand how outstanding teachers can shape a student’s journey, and I’m proud that our students learn from an extraordinary faculty while sharing the studio with the professional artists of Nimbus Dance.”
This season, Summit Performance Ensemble students will perform excerpts from Don Quixote alongside character dances inspired by Spanish and Latin traditions. Students will also have opportunities to perform alongside Nimbus Dance company members in the beloved Jersey Nutcracker.
The Summit faculty includes internationally acclaimed dancers Violeta Angelova, Yinet Fernandez, Mari Sugawa, Karen Verso, Adair Keener, Henry Steele Dillon, and Tymothy Jaddock.
Recent School of Nimbus graduates have continued their dance education in programs including Sarah Lawrence College and the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program, reflecting the strength of the School’s pre-professional training.
