This holiday season, Nimbus Dance’s beloved Jersey Nutcracker takes the stage at the majestic Loew’s Jersey Theatre for the first time ever, as the iconic 1929 Wonder Theatre reopens its doors to the public. After 16 years of thrilling audiences, this distinctly Jersey take on the holiday classic gets its grandest setting yet.
A Holiday Classic, Jersey Style
Nimbus Dance’s Jersey Nutcracker takes Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic on a joyride through the Garden State. Two kids from different sides of town discover a magical nutcracker in a mysterious golden suitcase, sending them racing through city streets and back alleys, down a magical manhole, and into a vision of their city they never imagined.
From the elegance of the Sugar Plum Fairy to dazzling jazzy choreography and laugh-out-loud funny characters, Jersey Nutcracker is a celebration of community, imagination, and the joy of the season.
Nimbus’ acclaimed professional dancers share the stage with young performers from across the state amid larger-than-life sets, glittering costumes, and animated projections that carry the city from darkened streets into a dazzling world of light. Beneath all the mischief and magic, two kids learn to see their city—and each other—with new eyes, in a world where kindness can change the course of a battle and the place they call home becomes brighter than they ever imagined.
