The School of Nimbus Dance cultivates young artists & leaders through nurturing, rigorous & joyful professional dance training. As the educational branch of Nimbus Dance, the School of Nimbus Dance combines technical training with a deep emphasis on artistry and the development of self-confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. With a curriculum rooted in modern, ballet, and diverse dance forms, the School fosters a holistic and supportive learning environment. Students benefit from instruction by expert teaching artists and opportunities to perform alongside the professional dancers of Nimbus Dance, developing technique, artistry, and transformative experiences in the arts. The School of Nimbus Dance is based at the Nimbus Arts Center in Downtown Jersey City. In 2025, the School of Nimbus Dance opened a new location in Downtown Summit, NJ.
Position Overview: The School Administrator & Family Engagement Coordinator is the heart of the School of Nimbus Dance front-of-house experience in Jersey City. This person serves as a consistent, representative face of the school for students and families at the Nimbus Arts Center: welcoming them each day, managing daily operations in family/front-facing spaces and processes, and ensuring every family feels informed, supported, and connected to the Nimbus community.
Key Responsibilities
Student & Family Engagement
- Serve as the front-facing representative for School of Nimbus Dance families; greet and check in/out students during class times with warmth and professionalism
- Answer family questions, facilitate tours, communicate studio policies, and maintain a safe, welcoming atmosphere
- Respond to all family inquiries within one business day
- Communicate regularly with enrolled families regarding scheduling, attendance, make-up classes, and upcoming events
- On call for special events, including Jersey Nutcracker, gala events, student performances, and other events as needed
- Support volunteer coordination for special events, performances, and community initiatives
- Guide families in the use of DSP for account management, registration, and scheduling
- Register students and take payments
- Represent the School of Nimbus at tabling and other community events.
Mezzanine & Facility Operations
- Ensure mezzanine coverage during all school hours Monday–Saturday; responsible for finding and scheduling coverage for any gaps
- Supervise student check-in/check-out, including role call and class counts; escort Level I–III students to designated adults
- Help ensure all spaces welcoming students or families (studios, waiting areas, mezzanine, and bathrooms) are safe, clean, and prepared for classes daily
- Aid in fostering an inclusive environment grounded in shared humanity and respect
Communications & School Support
- Distribute class reminders, schedule updates, and performance communications to school families
- Distribute all important communications from the School Director to the front desk team within 12 hours of receipt; CC the School Director on all front desk communications
- Meet weekly with the School Director to report concerns and receive updates and other assignments.
- Ensure accurate records on DSP for attendance monitoring and make-up class scheduling
- Assist with student evaluations and guide families in using DSP for basic account navigation
- Assist with performances that include students from the School of Nimbus, including, but not limited to, Jersey Nutcracker, Spring Concerts, On the Rise, and other assignments as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Background in dance and the performing arts
- Able to accommodate a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through and the ability to manage a busy, dynamic environment
- Strong working knowledge of Gmail and Google Suite; willingness to learn Dance Studio Pro software
- Experience in customer service, youth programs, family engagement, or community-facing experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive and Solutions Oriented
Prefered
- Familiarity with the nonprofit sector
- Bilingual a plus (Spanish, Portuguese, French, or other languages spoken in the Jersey City community)

Hours:
This position requires on-site evening and weekend hours. A typical week may look like: M-F 3 pm – 7 pm, Sat 9 – 2 pm
Physical Demands:
Requires regular movement throughout the facility, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, and effective verbal communication.
Work Environment:
The majority of work hours will take place in a front-facing capacity with a high volume of students and families, occasional exposure to studio settings, and outdoor events.
