Derick McKoy, Jr.
(Miami, Florida) is a graduate Glorya Kaufman BFA Scholar of the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program in Dance. Mr. McKoy started his official training under Luctricia Welters and after a year, joined her dance company, Jubilee Dance Theater as an apprentice. He furthered his training at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Springboard Danse Montreal, Arts Umbrella, BalletX, Ballet Hispanico, under scholarships, as well as NW Dance Project’s LAUNCH. Mr. McKoy has performed works by Alvin Ailey, Matthew Rushing, Crystal Pite, Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Sharon Eyal, Alejandro Cerrudo and others. In 2017, he performed in Ailey’s Spirit Gala in the David Koch Theater and for the groundbreaking of the Vessel at Hudson Yards. Mr. McKoy has also appeared on the hit tv show POSE on FX. Also a choreographer, he recently was commissioned by the Opus87 Piano Quartet to choreograph two new works set to premiere in Fall 2019, in remembrance of 50 years since the Stonewall Riots. This is his first season with Nimbus; he is excited to be performing with such beautiful artists.
