“The New Tide”

This year, Nimbus participated in GivingTuesday! Our goal is to raise funds to help commission a brand new work, The New Tide, by choreographer Dawn Marie Bazemore (you might recognize Dawn Marie’s name… she choreographed “The After Party” for Nimbus in 2018!)

In The New Tide, Ms. Bazemore explores the iconic 1940s-50s era photography of Gordon Parks, and builds stunning choreography set to the transcendent music of the legendary Sam Cooke. Drawing on the insight, implicit activism, and universality of these giants of 20th century American culture, Ms. Bazemore weaves history, storytelling, and a lot of just plain irresistible dancing!

New works of art like “The New Tide” by Dawn Marie Bazemore only happen because people like you understand the importance of bringing perspectives like this to the forefront. We are keeping the commissioning campaign live in case you would like to share with your community or donate later this year.
