Nimbus Dance focuses on the intersection between professional dance and innovative ways of engaging communities and audiences. Nimbus presents performances and programs to diverse audiences across the nation, serving current audiences and building future ones.
In its 15th season, Nimbus is led by founding Artistic Director Samuel Pott, acclaimed choreographer and former soloist dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company. Nimbus’ repertory is known for structured and musical dances that evoke deep-rooted emotional connection. Through the organization’s three interrelated fields – company, school, and presenting – Nimbus is committed to artistic excellence, community engagement, and progress, in so doing impacting 16,000 people each year.
The organization’s community engagement and education programs serve 4,000 youth in Jersey City and across the state. Nimbus’ company dancers serve as faculty at the School of Nimbus, which offers dance classes for ages 2 through adults from the greater New York City area.
In September 2020, Nimbus has relocated to a newly-constructed, state-of-the-art center, the Nimbus Arts Center at the Lively, in the Powerhouse Arts District of Jersey City.
